We have both local and international partners and Red Cross Movement Partners. The SLRCS also partners with the Government of Sierra Leone.
The Sierra Leone Red Cross has come a long way since it was made a national society in 1962 by an Act of parliament, delivering high standard humanitarian services, complementing the effort of the Government of Sierra Leone in risk reduction, volunteer management, first aid and disaster management community based disease prevention and control. SLRCS works in close partnership with couple of Government departments, including but not limited to the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs, Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation, Ministry of Justice, Defence, Parliament, Office of National Security and Parliament and other local agencies and stakeholders in delivering its community based services in Health and Care, Disaster Management and Risk Reduction, food security, First Aid, relief and humanitarian activities.
SLRCS presence is felt in all 14 administrative districts of Sierra Leone in the entire country either through its Community Based Health Programme, Community Animation and Peace Support or Child Advocacy and Rehabilitation, disaster management and emergency first aid service and reunification of separated families and mitigating and or preventing disasters in vulnerable communities. Recently, SLRCS has played pivotal roles in the Cholera Ebola Emergency Operations of 2012 and 2014 respectively.
